Exact same microwave as the Viking - Perfect fit July 15, 2010 Michael Lang (Charlotte, NC) After 5 years my Viking microwave stopped working. OK, so I started to look for a replacement. After looking around I realized that the Viking replacement was between $600 and $700. A local sales rep told me that Sharp made all of Viking microwaves and tht the R-530ES is the exact same microwave. Well, he was right! I purchased the Sharp R-530ES for $199 and it fits perectly inside my Viking trim kit. I installed it myself - very easy.
My original microwave: DMOS200SS Viking 2.0 cu.ft. Stainless Steel Designer Series Microwave Oven
A great tip saved me alot of money! So far the microwave is wroking great. Heck, it was $199!!!
Same as Dacor May 3, 2010 James A. Ford 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This Sharp was a replacement for a built-in Dacor unit that was 9 years old. On checking the specs before purchase it was obvious that Sharp was manufacturing the Dacor units. It looks slightly different but is identical in size and features and costs less.
Arrived within a few business days in perfect condition and operates well.

We got our first Sharp Microwave in 1985. It was still working but we were having trouble getting replacement parts and the seal was breaking apart and we were concerned with safety. This is why we went with a Sharp Microwave again. We love this microwave. It have a very sleek and modern look. It is much more powerful than our old one and we love the easy quick buttons to cook with. I highly recommend this microwave for anyone looking for one to purchase.
Great Features, Including Planned Obsolesence February 7, 2010 Steven M. Early (Methuen, MA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We have bought two of these. I love the features and it works well, but both of the ones we bought died within about 3-4 years. They both went the same way. We turned them on one day and saw flashes of light inside the microwave and heard popping sounds followed by that burned electrical smell. At least they're consistent.

Our Dacor microwave of 9 years had rusted out inside on the back wall. Since the unit was a built in, the only microwave that would fit was the same model from Dacor. In checking on replacing the Dacor I found the least expensive price to be $535.00 before shipping. During a chance conversation with an appliance repair person, he told me that Sharp manufactured the Dacor and might be cheaper! I check the Sharp models and found the R-530ES to be identicle to the Dacor with different badging.
We purchased the Sharp R-530ES for only $306.00 delivered.
The Sharp mirowave performs identicle to the Dacor. We are extremely pleased with the unit. It actually has more features than are old Dacor.
